My work this summer is within my community. Considering this, I am able to tackle this project with more sensitivity and care because I am aware of who this project caters to. However, despite being from the community, I learned so much about my city than ever before. As a person who lives in this community, it is easy to assume I know everything. However, I find that not to be the truth. I am learning about my community more and more each day, and I hope that continues throughout the summer.

I feel this! What was the most moving thing you learned about your community this summer?
I completely agree that we can be blind to a lot of the things happening within our community until we actually go out, see for ourselves, and talk to people. I am experiencing something similar with my internship and it’s been great working in my hometown.
